Fun trip to the Temple

Yesterday we made the trek to Oakland for our monthly visit to the Temple. The Temple is about 70 miles away from where we live and requires a little bit of planning to accomplish for our young family. Usually, we are able to find a classroom at the stake center that sits adjacent to the Temple and Eric and I swap babysitting while the other attends a session. One unexpected blessing from this lengthy endeavor has been that our whole family is experiencing Temple attendance. The kids are more aware of the sacrifice and blessings than I think I ever was while growing up. We try to talk with them and teach them what we can while driving back and forth. While there we often visit the Visitor's Center or walk the Temple grounds. It's turned out to be a great thing for our family.....though we wouldn't be opposed to living closer to a Temple one day.

I shot this video of the kids playing in the classroom last night. It's a little lopsided in attention to Samuel...but so goes life these days.

I hear ya! When we were in CT and going to the Boston Temple, or here now in OH going to the Columbus Temple, it was like what you are doing! Same distance. Boston was a little trickier because there wasn't a meetinghouse on the property too. Anyway, we are in the same boat! In fact, the "old timers" around in CT and OH both say how great it is to have a temple so close (both were built in just the last 7 years, the next temple before that was around 6 hours away.) I'd love to be even closer though! But yes, our boys know about the temple too. Looking for the Moroni as we drive in is exciting!
